Pumpkin Pie, perfect for Thanksgiving

Although I'm German, I love the American traditions, such as celebrating Thanksgiving.
I really love the thought of having a day, aside from christmas, where the whole family comes together, to have a fantastic meal and just to be together.
So I thought to bring a bit of Thanksgiving cheer to my family, and so I made a Pumpkin Pie for the first time ever, and it came out perfectly. The filling is so rich and creamy and combined with the spices it was just so good.
Even my dad, who is a bit more picky with new stuff loved it and ate 2 pieces :D
Because I didn't have a recipe, I had to search for one. And I found one that is easy peasy lemonsqueezy, and that wont crack on the surface.

For one Pumpkin Pie you'll need:

1 Basic Pie dough recipe
15 ounce(420g) Pumpkin puree
1 large egg
3 egg yolks
1 can sweetened condense milk, 14 ounces(390g)
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 Tsp. groung Ginger
1/8 Tsp. Nutmeg

1. Pour the pumpkin puree into a large bowl. Add the egg and the egg yolks and stir until well combined. Now add the condensed milk and give it a quick stir. The condensed milk is all the sweetener you'll need for this recipe.

2. For the typical pumpkin pie taste you'll need spices. Add now the salt, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg.
Pour the filling into a prepared pie dish. Tap and shake the pie lightly to prevent air bubbles.

3. Bake for 10 minutes at 425°F/220°C then for another 30-35 minutes at 350°F/180°C. If you want to be sure that the pie is ready, insert the point of the knife into the pie and when it comes out clean the pie is done:)

Now I gotta say, pumpkin pie is one of my favorite pies ever. As you can see on the images, I served the pie with whipped cream, which I sweetened a bit with vanilla sugar.

No matter if you're having a pumpkin pie or maybe a pecan pie, I wish you a happy thanksgiving.

XOXO Owlicious;)
