Light Pumpkin Spiced Latte

I'm a regular caffeine and Starbucks enthusiast like almost everybody, but in Germany we don't have Pumpkin Spiced Latte at Starbucks. So I used the opportunity to try one, when I was on vacation in America last year. And I gotta say, I was wayyyyy disappointed. I was much to  sweet. So much so that I couldn't really enjoy all the other flavors and spices.
But I really liked the basic flavor.

Now that it's fall, it's pumpkin season and I really love pumpkin. I'm always looking for new recipes to try out with it, then just the normal soup or casserole.
So last week, while reading every days gossip on the website of People magazine I randomly found this recipe for a Light Pumpkin Spiced Latte and was like "yeahhhy wohooo". And I was so glad that it was light too. I belong to those people who are obsessed with their weight, so I always try to lighten things up, without loosing the taste.

But I gotta say, when I tried this recipe, I tried it with mixed feelings. But it was soooo yummy. Perfect for a cloudy, rainy, cold fall day, when you want to curl up on the sofa with a blanket to read a book. It is low fat and low cal but so worth a try. The pumpkin mixes well with the spices and the coffee and it gives you a warm and good feeling with only 120 kcal per serving.

Creamy Pumpkin Coffee
Makes 1
¾ cup low-fat milk = 180 ml low-fat milk
2 tsp. brown or white granulated sugar
2 tbsp. pumpkin puree
¼ tsp. vanilla extract
2 dashes of nutmeg
Dash of cinnamon
Pinch of ground ginger
½ cup hot coffee= 120ml hot coffee
1. Combine the milk, sugar, pumpkin purée, vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger in a blender on high speed, creating a frothy consistency. Pour into a saucepan and heat until just-hot but not boiling.
2. Pour hot coffee into mug and top with hot spiced milk.

Try it you wont be disappointed
